MVR 723.5M in vape-related fines; only MVR 800,000 paid

Maldives Customs Service states 232 individuals have been fined a combined MVR 723.5 million for the illegal importation of vapes, only MVR 800,000 of the imposed penalties has been paid to date. Statistics provided by Customs to ‘Mihaaru’ news outlet places the total number of fines imposed at MVR 723,520,000, of which the state has so far recovered only MVR 850,000.
