The government has confirmed that no additional days will be added to this year’s Eid al-Adha holidays beyond those already designated on the calendar.
Today marks the first 1st of Dhu’l-Hijjah, the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar.
The President’s Office’s Spokesperson Heena Waleed, via a post on X on Wednesday, said no additional days will be added this year’s Eid al-Adha holidays beyond those already designated on the calendar, as this year’s Hajj Day has been declared next Thursday, as stated on the calendar.
As such, the Eid al-Adha holidays will be from June 5th to June 9th.
The government will reopen after the Eid al-Adha holidays on Tuesday, June 10th.
Usually, the government closes the remainder of the week if the Eid holidays conclude in the middle of a week. Hence, many members of the general public were expecting the government to announce additional holidays for Eid al-Adha.
The government will be celebrating Eid al-Adha on national scale at three islands: HA. Kelaa, K. Guraidhoo and L. Gan.
