Young woman stabbed in neck in Hulhumale', condition now stable

A young woman was stabbed in the neck in a shop in Hulhumale' on Saturday, police said.

Police initially said they had mobilised and are attending the case after receiving a tip-off that someone had been stabbed and is being treated at Hulhumale’ Hospital.

Later, police said they had received information that a person was taken to the hospital with a stab wound to the neck at 12:45 this afternoon.

The injured victim of this violence is a 21-year-old woman from Nepal, the agency said.

In addition, the attack was aimed at this individual, and directly at the neck too, police confirm.

The details of the injuries sustained by the woman are not available as the Hulhumale' Hospital where she is being treated has not yet shared information, except to say that her condition is now stable.

Police are looking into the incident.

Similar violent incidents have occurred this month and last month in Male’ city. Two weeks ago, a young man was stabbed in Majeedhee Magu. Earlier, a man was attacked and injured in Sosun Magu late last month.
