The Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) has issued warnings to three centers for issuing certificates to graduates without conducting a program audit.

The MQA states that some centers are awarding certificates despite not completing the required program audit.

The MQA has also noted that previously approved programs are being conducted and certified in rural areas without the necessary permission from the Ministry of Higher Education, Labor and Skills Development or an MQA program audit.

Certificates issued under these circumstances are not acceptable to the MQA, and the centers involved have been advised against such practices. The authority emphasized that these certificates would not be accepted even if submitted for an MQA program audit at a later date.

The MQA has also warned that action will be taken against centers that repeat these practices.

MQA CEO Maryam Fizana Rasheed confirmed that three centers have been identified for issuing certificates without an authority program audit. She stated that notices have been issued to these centers and that the public should be aware of this issue.

Fizana reiterated that such certificates are unacceptable and will not be accepted by the MQA, even if included in graduation and later submitted for a program audit.

A similar issue has occurred in the past, where the authority decided not to accept certificates from 101 higher education and training centers that failed to re-register.
