The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has opened for the public to submit their feedback on the new Hulhumale’ masterplan, which was introduced on Tuesday with significant changes.
The new masterplan was launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held for the occasion. HDC opened public feedback opportunity on Wednesday, May 28th which will remain open until June 16th.
HDC confirms public can provide feedback online via the corporation’s website, and added they will finalize the masterplan after factoring in public opinion.
HDC Managing Director Mauroof Jameel on Wednesday said that the new plan aims to improve the living standards of Hulhumale’ residents with the introduction of new facilities. He added HDC will continue working on developing Hulhumale’ with full consideration of public opinion and feedback.
While introducing the new masterplan, President Muizzu claimed he envisioned Hulhumale’ will become a ‘financial capital’ in the future.
The new plan includes expanding the current Hulhumale’ harbor from 36 hectares to 53 hectares along with the addition of modern facilities and equipment and a larger passenger terminal.
Additional to this, the plan also includes new venues for the development of schools, mosques, office complexes, and other vital infrastructure.
The previous masterplan was poised to create 131,000 job opportunities, HDC said and added the new plan adds 93,000 more jobs, bringing the total opportunities to 224,000.
