Police are investigating a case in which a woman was allegedly harassed on multiple occasions over the past three months while she went out for walks for exercise.
In a statement, police said the matter, involving alleged stalking and repeated harassment, was reported at around 06:00 am on Wednesday. No further details have been disclosed at this stage.
Police confirmed they are looking into the incident, noting that the woman’s video showing the man during an encounter has been circulated widely on TikTok.
The video, recorded on the Sinamale’ Bridge, shows the woman confronting a man while filming him, stating she has had enough and will report him to the police, at which point the man turns, apologises twice, and then runs away as she moves forward, seeming ready to say more.
In the video, the woman said the man had been following her for three months. She said she has been afraid to step outside, whether to go to work, to walk, or even to return home.
“He knows where I park my bike. He knows what time I come to work, he knows what time I finish. And he stays down there waiting for me. I get scared to come to work also now because whenever he sees me, he will slow down and wait until I come so he can say something or talk. There are days I have not finished my work and returned back to home because of him. I was so scared”.
