A 46-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday after drugs were found in her pants pocket.
Shaziya Ibrahim, 46, of Noovila/GA. Dhaandhoo, was arrested in connection with the incident. She was taken into custody on charges of possession and trafficking in drugs.
She was remanded in custody after police presented sufficient evidence against her.
According to the court order, police officers stopped and searched the woman during a patrol in the city after finding her conduct suspicious. During the search, a cellophane bag containing suspected drugs was recovered from a tissue found in the left front pocket of her pants.
Her interim urine test results were positive for narcotics including AMP, OPIs, benzos and CAT, according to the warrant.
The court said she was arrested in accordance with procedures, adding that she was using drugs and required treatment.
Authorities note that drug possession in small rubber packets, and the sale and trade of such packets, has become increasingly common in recent years. Police say many of those arrested in these cases are young people and minors.
