President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has recognized the invaluable contribution of voluntary blood donors whose generosity helps save lives, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation.
In a post via X on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the President stated that the selfless contributions of voluntary blood donors ensure that individuals living with chronic medical conditions, as well as patients requiring urgent medical attention, receive life-saving support when it is needed most.
He stressed that, despite significant advances in medicine and technology, blood remains an irreplaceable resource. He noted that voluntary blood donation is crucial for protecting public health, maintaining effective healthcare services, and enhancing the country’s readiness to respond to emergencies.

He further highlighted that, in a geographically dispersed island nation such as the Maldives, timely access to blood can be critical during medical emergencies. The President underscored the importance of fostering a culture of solidarity and collective responsibility to safeguard the health and well-being of all Maldivians.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also commemorated the occasion through a post on her official X account, paying tribute to blood donors for their compassion and generosity in offering hope to patients and their families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
