The government has closed on Monday for the last 10 days of Ramadan.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has designated the last 10 days of Ramadan as public holidays, honoring a significant presidential pledge and reflecting commitment to Islamic values and religious practices.

Earlier, the President’s Office instructed government offices to make necessary arrangements to ensure that essential public services continue during this period, with each office responsible for managing its own operations.

This year, the holy month of Ramadan began on February 18. Schools closed on February 26, after holding classes for about a week following the start of Ramadan. As outlined in the academic calendar, classes are set to resume on Monday, March 23.

The government had similarly declared the last ten days of Ramadan as public holidays in the previous year.
