Man with repeated motorcycle theft record arrested while on stolen motorcycle

A Maldivian man, who has a record of theft of motorcycles, has been arrested on Tuesday while on a stolen motorbike.

The Police said Ahmed Adeeb, 34, Kasthoori, HDh. Vaikaradhoo, was stopped by police officers patrolling Haivakaru Magu in Hulhumale’ at approximately 6:29am on Tuesday due to his actions, which warranted suspicions that he has a record of motorbike theft.

The Police added that he was arrested when he stopped on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen motorbike.

Criminal Court had remanded Adeeb in custody pending the outcome of his trial.

Motorbike theft remains extremely common in Male’ area. Moreover, theft is the most common type of crime reported to the Police in the Maldives.
