Two men arrested within 24 hours for stealing valuables from a Feydhoo shop

Two men have been arrested within 24 hours for stealing valuables from a shop in Feydhoo. The suspects were taken into custody on Monday after allegedly stealing a cash drawer, keys and other items from a shop in Addu City.

The robbery was reported at City Auto Garage on Monday, prompting police to begin a search for the suspects and the stolen items. The two men were arrested at 6:47 pm the same day after being stopped while travelling on a motorcycle in Maradhoo. A crowbar and a bag believed to have been used in the theft were recovered from the vehicle.

Both suspects, aged 42, were arrested in connection with the incident. Police said searches conducted at their homes led to the recovery of several stolen items, including four electric drills, a grinder, a tablet, a mobile phone, cutters, as well as the shop’s cash drawer and keys. The items have since been handed over to the owner.

The two men have been remanded in custody for 13 days. Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
