Two people have been arrested from Kulhudhuffushi on suspicion of stealing over MVR 80,000 worth of electrical equipment from a boatyard and warehouse in the northern city.
Police identified the suspects arrested in the case as:
They were arrested on July 9.
The police said Nabeel was remanded in custody of the police for 12 days, and Haseeb for five days.
The theft of the electrical equipment was reported on July 8.
According to the police, the equipment they allegedly stole include an electrical drill, an electrical saw, a cutoff machine, tool boxes, electrical wires and other electrical tools.
The police estimate the stolen items are worth over MVR 80,000.
The police said they have recovered the stolen equipment, and are returning it to their rightful owners.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
