Three injured, one dead in Hulhumale' Phase II crash

A collision between two motorcycles in Hulhumale' Phase II on Monday evening has left one person dead and two others injured, according to Maldives Police Service.

The accident occurred on Nikagas Magu, and police confirmed that three people were injured in the crash. One of the injured, Ismail Rayan Bin Nazim (19), of Light Garden/K. Dhiffushi, later succumbed to his injuries. Sun has learned that he suffered severe head trauma.

The other two victims, both men, are reportedly in stable condition.

According to information received by Sun, the crash occurred when one motorcycle, traveling at high speed, collided with another motorcycle on the same road.

Photos circulating on social media show extensive damage to both motorcycles, indicating the force of the impact. Police officers were seen at the scene shortly after the incident.

Police have not yet officially disclosed the identities of the other two individuals involved. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

According to police statistics, the number of traffic accidents has risen this year compared to last year. In October 2018, 2,374 accidents were reported, while 2,487 accidents were recorded during the same period last year, an increase of 113 incidents.
