Three of five injured in boat accident remain hospitalized

Three of five people injured in a dangerous marine accident off the Izzuddin Jetty in Male’ on Thursday remain hospitalized, says the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The accident, involving a speedboat and a second vessel, the latter of which fled after the collision, took place at around 09:10 pm Thursday.

Five people, identified as one Maldivian and four expatriates, were injured in the accident and rushed to the IGMH.

A spokesperson from the hospital told Sun on Saturday that two of the victims were discharged after treatment at the Emergency Room.

The other three remain admitted at the hospital’s ward.

The hospital did not disclose the identities of the individuals who remain hospitalized, or the details of their injuries.

The police remain on the hunt to locate the second vessel involved in the collision.
