A massive fire broke out on early Sunday at one of the stores operated by Lily Enterprises – one of the country’s biggest importers and distributers of food and beverage products – leaving a firefighter injured.

The fire broke out at Lily F&B Suppliers 1, located in the market district of Male’ City, at around 01:00 am Sunday.

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said that firefighters were immediately deployed to respond to the fire.

They managed to put out the fire after a one-and-a-half-hour battle at around 02:39 am.

The MNDF said that one of the firefighters involved in battling the fire was taken to the Senahiya Military Hospital.

However, the exact nature of his injuries or his current condition is unclear.

There were no reports of any other injuries.

However, the fire burned through a lot of the merchandise at the store, and caused the partial collapse of the roof.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this point.

In 2015, a massive fire broke out at a Lily warehouse in Maafannu district of Male’, resulting extensive damages.
