Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, on Wednesday, has announced the resumption of Zakat Scholarship after a seven-year break.
The scholarship award ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 16th.
Minister Shaheem said this would mark the highest number of higher education scholarships being awarded in Islamic fields in the history of Maldives.
“This time around, scholarships will be awarded for higher education in Islamic fields. This is the first time such a high number of scholarships are being awarded for higher education in Islamic fields,” he said.
A total of 50 scholarship opportunities have been announced under Zakat Fund.
These scholarships mark a great opportunity for students interested in pursing higher education in Islamic fields.
The Zakat Scholarship, provided by the Zakat Fund, supports financially disadvantaged students pursuing studies in legitimate fields that are crucial for strengthening Maldivian society, which is in need of skilled professionals.
Three types of financial assistance are offered for higher education via Zakat Fund: scholarship for higher education, special scholarship for higher education and financial aid to complete higher education.
