Ooredoo Maldives has launched Samsung eSIM-enabled smartwatches - marking the first time for the service to be available in Maldives.

The service allows customers to stay connected directly from their smartwatch—without needing their phone nearby.

This service will currently be available for Samsung Watch Ultra 7 LTE devices with Maldives region enabled.

With this cutting-edge technology, users can make calls, send messages, stream music, and stay connected to their favorite apps, all from their Samsung smartwatch. The eSIM functionality ensures seamless connectivity, offering greater freedom and convenience for those on the move.

Commenting on the launch of the new service, Khalid Al- Hamadi, the CEO and Managing Director of Ooredoo Maldives, said the company is proud to lead the way in introducing cutting-edge technology that enhances everyday life and supports their vision of building a truly ‘Digital Maldives.’

Echoing this sentiment, SangHwa Song, Managing Director at Samsung Sri Lanka and Maldives, said that Samsung is committed to delivering innovative wearable technology that elevates everyday life through seamless connectivity.

“We’re excited to partner with Ooredoo Maldives to bring eSIM functionality to our smartwatches, enabling users to stay connected wherever they are—without the need for their phone,” he said.

He added that the launch reflects Samsung’s dedication to advancing digital lifestyles and bringing meaningful innovation to customers in the Maldives.

The Samsung eSIM wearable service is now available for all mobile customers, both prepaid and postpaid, free of charge for a period of three months.

After the promotion period, the service will have a fee of MVR 199 per month.

The move by Ooredoo Maldives to launch Samsung eSIM-enabled smartwatches comes after the company launched eSIMs for Apple Watch in another first in the Maldives in late April.
