A teenager has been arrested in connection to a fight that broke out near a Hiyaa tower in Hulhumale’ Phase II on Monday night, leaving two people injured.
Mohamed Raihan Hussain, 18, Ma. Shelter, K. Male’, was arrested by police under a court warrant at around 11:10 pm Tuesday.
He was remanded in jail pending the outcome of the trial when presented before the court for his remand hearing on Wednesday.
The incident near H11 was reported to the police at around 11:51 pm Monday.
Police said the incident resulted in injuries to two people. One of them sustained a cut to his head while the other sustained swelling and bruising on multiple spots on his back and his elbows.
The perpetrators also stole two phones, added a police spokesperson.
The two people injured in the incident were taken to the Hulhumale’ Hospital.
A video purportedly of the incident shows it took place in a vacant plot next to H11. The blurry video shows a man fleeing the scene while another lies on the ground writhing in pain.
The Hiyaa towers are estimated to house some 30,000 people, and has been plagued with crimes such as burglary and drug peddling.
