MET forecasts thunder and heavy rain for next 3 days

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has forecasted heavy rain accompanied with thunder for the upcoming three days.

The weather forecast authority said Maldives has entered into a transitional period, shifting from northeast monsoon (dry-season) to southwest monsoon (wet-season).

The authority noted the cloud trough formations to the south of the Maldives has slowly been moving towards southern atolls resulting in the region experiencing rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Several parts of Maldives are expected to experience rainfall while some parts would experience heavy rainfall accompanied with thunder, added MET Office.

MET further said parts of the country are likely to experience strong gusts with rough seas. The authority has cautioned everyone to stay up to date with the latest weather-related information.
