Health Ministry has announced plans to host a special "Health and Family Expo" under the theme "Together for a Healthy and Happy Generation."

According to the Ministry, the expo will be held at Hulhumalé Central Park from Thursday to Saturday.

Providing details of the three-day event, the Ministry noted that previous editions held over the past two years had received considerable public support.

This year’s expo will feature more than 60 stalls representing hospitals and clinics in the Greater Malé area, non-governmental organisations and regional hospitals from across the atolls.

The main objective of the expo is to raise public awareness of healthy and positive lifestyle practices, promote gender equality and provide essential information to vulnerable groups.

The Ministry also aims to provide information on national social health insurance schemes and bring relevant institutions and healthcare providers together under one roof to showcase their services. The event will also offer institutions an opportunity to receive public feedback and address complaints.

Designed as a family-friendly event, the expo will feature activities for children, including health check-ups, information on nutrition and child development, vaccinations and various entertainment programs.

The expo will also include health screenings and information sessions for expatriates, activities for young people and awareness programs focusing on mental health. Healthy food stalls will also be available to promote nutritious eating habits.

Additionally, the event will feature entertainment programs, including musical performances and a "haunted cave", according to the Ministry.

Last year, the Health Ministry held a similar event titled "Health Expo" to raise public awareness about building a healthy generation. The initiative aligns with government policies aimed at increasing public participation in promoting national well-being.

The Ministry’s Health Expo is an initiative aimed at fostering a culture of health and wellness, with activities including free medical screenings, information sessions and programs targeting families.
