President Dr Mohamed Muizzu says he will submit the entire Eagle Hills agreement to the relevant parliamentary committee, amid growing opposition calls for full disclosure of the contract for the Rasmale' project.

Speaking on state media’s Nation Chat programme, the President said a special bill on real-estate tourism linked to the project will be sent to Parliament soon. He said the bill will be opened for public comment, and the agreement will be referred to a standing committee appointed by the People’s Majlis.

“I believe that a responsible government cannot do this more perfectly. The People’s Majlis is literally the house of the people. So the people will be delivered the agreement then,” he said.

The President reiterated that the agreement will be sent to the relevant committee and the bill will be opened for public comment before becoming law, describing the process as “very two-sided.” He accused opposition politicians of spreading lies and deception, adding that he does not intend to respond to their narratives. “They are not responsible people. I don’t care what they say. I will not even try to change their stories,” he said.

He said the Rasmale' project will not harm Maldivians and insisted it will bring benefits, adding that the project is “more limited than the limits of a resort.”

The Rasmale' development, the Maldives Waterfront and Marina Project, is being carried out by Eagle Hills of Abu Dhabi. Some politicians and activists have expressed concern that Israelis could buy property under the USD 20 billion project. The government has said it will prevent anyone with Israeli ties from purchasing property in Rasmale'.
