Hisan Hassan, who has served at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) since its inception and currently hold the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), has been dismissed from the post.

Hisan has dedicated 22 years to the field of disaster management, serving under five successive administrations, beginning with that of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in the country’s disaster management operations.

During his tenure at the authority, he also served as Sports Officer and Project Director. He played a key role in managing responses to major crises, including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Disaster Management Authority was established under the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Prior to its establishment, the agency operated as the National Disaster Management Centre.

The NDMA is a statutory body mandated under the Disaster Management Act of 2015 to oversee disaster-related matters.
