A dedicated Maldives-Dubai private jet route has been announced in response to growing demand from the luxury tourism market.
According to JetAlto, a private jet charter marketplace, the route was introduced ahead of the Maldives’ peak tourism season, offering luxury travelers a seamless journey to Malé in less than four hours. JetAlto operates as a platform connecting travelers with licensed aircraft operators rather than maintaining its own fleet.
The 2,965-kilometer journey between Dubai and Malé can be completed non-stop, with JetAlto stating that a super-midsize jet can make the trip in approximately three hours and 40 minutes. Four categories of aircraft are available for the route, with prices ranging from USD 32,000 to USD 115,000. A midsize jet accommodating up to nine passengers starts at USD 32,000, while a 10-seat super-midsize jet is available from USD 42,000. A heavy jet with capacity for 14 passengers costs from USD 58,000, while ultra-long-range aircraft accommodating up to 16 passengers start at USD 85,000. The quoted rates include fuel, crew, and handling charges.
Flights operate from either Dubai International Airport or Al Maktoum International Airport and arrive at the VIP terminal of Velana International Airport. The company emphasized the importance of coordinating arrival times with onward seaplane transfers, which operate to resorts only during daylight hours. It also advised travelers to book well in advance, particularly during peak periods such as Christmas and New Year, when parking capacity for private aircraft at Velana International Airport becomes limited.
Dubai serves as a key transit hub for affluent travelers from the Middle East, Europe, and North America traveling to the Maldives. As the country continues to strengthen its position as a luxury tourism destination, private jet arrivals have also increased significantly.
The Maldives has also recorded a notable increase in private jet arrivals following the closure of Middle Eastern airspace amid regional conflicts.
Statistics from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) show that 128 private jets arrived in the Maldives between February 28 and March 14 this year alone, representing a 166 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year. JetAlto expects demand for private jet travel to continue increasing during the upcoming peak tourism season.
