President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has discussed strengthening trade, development cooperation and regional security with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to a post by the UAE Embassy in Maldives on X, President Muizzu called the UAE leader via phone and the two spoke about enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors, including existing agreements.
The Embassy said the two leaders also discussed expanding cooperation in trade and development, reaffirming their commitment to work together for the benefit of the people of both countries.

They further exchanged views on strengthening regional security, the Embassy said.
Maldives and the UAE established diplomatic relations on 15 March 1978.
