Middle-aged man arrested with drugs from Fuvahmulah airport

A middle-aged man arrested from the Fuvahmulah Airport on Sunday, on suspicion of attempting to smuggle drugs into the southern Maldivian city.

The police on Thursday identified the suspect as Abdulla Mohamed, 57, Kinaara, Miskiymagu, Fuvahmulah City.

He was arrested from the airport in a joint operation on Sunday by Fuvahmulah City Police and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence.

A subsequent search led to the seizure of rubber bags containing 68 grams of a substance believed to be drugs.

Abdulla Mohamed was taken to court on Monday, and remanded in custody of the police for 20 days.

The case is under investigation by the police.
