MD: STELCO’s nationwide expansion offers ‘huge relief’ the people

The government’s decision to expand State Electric Company (STELCO)’s services nationwide is one that will immensely benefit the people, says Dr. Ali Azwar, managing director of the state utility company.

Azwar made the remark at the opening of a training session for station managers from B. Atoll, Lh. Atoll, M. Atoll and K. Huraa.

He described STELCO as a key national development partner, adding that expanding the company’s high-quality utility services nationwide would produce benefits of national proportion.

Azwar said that the company’s teams are currently surveying islands in preparation of expansion.

“The company’ is currently selecting teams and engaging in survey work as part of efforts to expand our services nationwide. I believe expanding STELCO’s services nationwide offer huge relief and ease to the people,” he said.

“I believe our operational efficiency - efforts to enhance the quality of services provided to islands, to minimize costs where ever possible – is a huge achievement that deserves national recognition. I believe this is a very important step taken by the government.”

Azwar described this as a “very good decision” made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu after listening to the sentiments of local communities across the country.

STELCO is set to take over all utility services in the country following the decision to merge Fenaka Corporation into it.
