Woman injured in Sosun Magu accident in critical condition, being treated in ICU

ADK Hospital, on Monday night, confirmed that the woman injured in a serious collision involving two motorcycles on Sosun Magu on Sunday night remains in critical condition.

The Police received a report of the accident at approximately 01:13am last night. According to Police, three people sustained injuries of varying severity: two Maldivian men aged 21 and 22, and a 26-year-old Maldivian woman.

The woman is currently receiving treatment at ADK Hospital, while the two men are being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). In response to inquiries from Sun, ADK Hospital confirmed that the woman is in critical condition and remains under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The hospital did not provide any additional information.

Attempts to obtain an update on the condition of the two men receiving treatment at IGMH were unsuccessful, as the hospital's media official did not respond to calls.

Video footage of the accident circulating on social media shows the woman lying on the road with severe head injuries and bleeding. She appeared to be unresponsive at the scene, while the two men also appeared to have sustained visible injuries.

Police said the 21-year-old driver of one of the motorcycles involved in the collision does not hold a valid driving license. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.

Road accidents are common in the Malé area. Police statistics show that more than 2,100 accidents have been recorded so far this year.
