Motorcycle retrieved from the sea following a high‑speed racing accident in L. Gan that injured one rider, September 19, 2026.
A young racer who fell into the sea during a racing competition in L. Gan on Saturday has been transferred to Male’ City, where he is on life support at the main government hospital.
The 20-year-old man had been competing in the Racing Championship – Laamu Edition, when he lost control of his motorcycle and plunged into the sea, along with the vehicle.
The incident took place at 09:54 am Saturday.
The young man sustained critical injuries in the accident, and was initially treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the Gan Regional Hospital, before being flown to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male’.
A spokesperson from IGMH told Sun on Sunday that the young man was being treated on a ventilator.
The accident is under investigation by the police.
