Chief of Staff Abdullah Fayaz has been promoted to the rank of Senior Minister.
President’s Office Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) confirmed to Sun that Fayaz was elevated to the level of Senior Minister this week. According to the President’s Office website, he is currently the only official holding the Senior Minister portfolio.
In the early days of the administration, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Abdulla Raheem Abdulla as Special Advisor to the President. However, after Abdulla Raheem was elected to Parliament, no other individual held a senior ministerial position until now.
Fayaz previously served as Deputy Minister of Housing during the period when President Muizzu was Housing Minister, Yameen’s regime.
