Marking 60 years of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Pakistan, around 2,000 people have been screened under a "Cancer Awareness & Screening Campaign" conducted by the Cancer Society of Maldives (CSM) in F. Nilandhoo.
The campaign, sponsored by the High Commission on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, was officially inaugurated in Nilandhoo by the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the Maldives, H.E. Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi. The campaign was held from 20 to 22 August.
Delivering the welcome remarks at the inauguration ceremony, CSM President Mr. Hussain Rasheed Moosa and the President of the Atoll Council Mr. Ali Ahmed expressed profound gratitude for the support extended by the Government and the people of Pakistan. Both dignitaries also highlighted the long-standing, historic friendship between the two nations. Additionally, CSM Chairperson Madam Juwairiya Saeed elaborated on the salient features of the cancer screening process and its intended positive impact on the healthcare of common citizens.
Addressing the gathering, the High Commissioner appreciated the remarkable social work of the CSM leadership and their team. Underscoring the importance of such initiatives in improving healthcare across the islands, he stated that Pakistan’s participation in this vital initiative will strengthen people-to-people ties and reflect the enduring bond of friendship between the two countries.
During the visit, the High Commissioner and mission officials visited the Nilandhoo Hospital and held an interactive session with the doctors' team. Furthermore, they visited the F. Atoll Education Centre and met with the faculty to discuss potential avenues for collaboration in the education sector.
