The weather bureau Maldives Meteorological Services (MET) has forecast rain across the country for the next three days.
The Met said rain is expected in the northern and central parts of the country on Monday. Winds will range between seven and 17 mph in the southern atolls, and between eight and 18 mph in the rest of the country, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph in cloudy conditions.
Rainfall is expected to continue over the next three days.
The Met also said seas will be moderately rough on Monday, becoming more intense in areas with heavy cloud cover.
There has been a tragic accident at sea during the ongoing bad weather. Last week, a supply boat loaded with rock and gravel sank, leaving three people missing: boat captain Mohamed Hamdhoon, 35; Police Sergeant Ali Nafiu, 33; and MNDF Staff Sergeant Ibrahim Ahmed, 39.
Authorities have urged seafarers to pay close attention to weather conditions during this period.
