Two expats detained over illegal waste disposal business

Two Bangladeshi workers were detained from Hulhumale’ on Monday, for allegedly running an illegal waste disposal business.

According to police, MD Habeeb Ulah, 43, and MD Monir, 39, were detained by police at around 08:45 am Monday.

Police said that Habeeb has a valid work visa as a tailor for AU Fehun, while Monir has a work visa as a mason for Gold King Pvt. Ltd.

According to police, the duo was detained with the pickup they used to carry waste they collected from different areas of Hulhumale’.

Police said they were found to have engaged in a private waste disposal business in violation of the Public Health Protection Act, Waste Management Act, Immigration Act, and Employment Act.

They were handed over to the custody of Immigration.
