Maldives police seek UAE’s support in boosting Cyber Security Operations Center

The Maldives police have asked for support from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in further developing and enhancing its Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC).

The discussions took place in a meeting in Male’ between Commissioner of Police of Maldives Ahmed Mohamed and Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, who is leading a delegation of UAE officials visiting the Maldives.

The meeting, held at the Iskandhar Building, was also attended by the rest of the UAE delegation as well as senior Maldives police officials.

During the meeting, Ahmed Mohamed highlighted on the close ties between the Maldives and the UAE, and thanked the UAE government for its continued support towards the development of the Maldives police.

According to the Maldives police, the discussions focused on ongoing UAE-backed projects to boost their investigation and operational capacity.

Both Ahmed Mohamed and Al Kuwaiti engaged in extensive discussions regarding further enhancing these efforts.

The two also highlighted on the importance of developing human resources of the police service, and discussed areas whether the police require additional training.

Their discussions also focused on the need to strengthen cybersecurity in light of the rapid technological advancements the world is undergoing, and discussed further developing and enhancing the Cyber Security Operations Center – which opened in August last year.
