Public health and safety services have been temporarily shifted to the Urban Primary Health Care Centre in Maafannu.

Dhamanaveshi is a facility where large numbers of people seek services such as children’s development, weight checks and vaccinations.

The Health Ministry said in a statement last month that the hospital was being closed following the decision to establish an urban primary health care centre in the former Thalassemia Centre and the building currently housing Dhamanaveshi. The ministry said the services provided by the hospital would be temporarily relocated.

According to the ministry, services would be transferred to the Urban Primary Health Care Centre, the Hulhumale' Public Health Unit and the GP Clinic.

IGMH has now shifted all services to the Urban Primary Health Care Centre in Maafannu from Monday as renovation works are underway.

The Urban Primary Health Care Centre (UPHC) functions as a general practice clinic as well as a child health clinic in collaboration with the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and relevant agencies.

The centre was converted into a general practice clinic in the Coral Boulevard building, which was initiated in the Rasfannu Beach area during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
