Two Maldives Police Service officers have completed an Interpol training program aimed at boosting a country’s capacity to investigate cybercrime, fraud and extortion.
Police said the officers took part in the eighth Digital Security Challenge, also known as the Cyber Games, held in Marrakech, Morocco, from May 19 to 21. The program brings together law‑enforcement agencies from around the world to sharpen practical skills needed to counter online crime.
According to police, the training focused on coordinated operations against scam networks, the use of intelligence, and proper handling of digital evidence. Officers also received instruction on interviewing suspects and using international legal tools to support cross‑border criminal investigations.
Police said participation in global programs such as the Interpol Cyber Games helps enhance the technical capacity of Maldivian officers and strengthens cooperation with foreign experts. The experience, they added, will further improve the country’s ability to investigate cybercrimes and fraud cases.
