Home Land Security, Labor and Technology Minister Ali Ihusaan has said that a list of employers will be established under Maldives 2.0.
Speaking on PSM’s Raajje Miadhu programme, Minister Ihusaan said that after the implementation of Maldives 2.0, no document issued by a government agency will have to be submitted to another government agency. All government data systems will then be interconnected, he said.
The minister said it would be very easy for foreigners to seek services under Maldives 2.0, as the authenticity of individuals will be verified instantly if they comply with the regulations.
He said a system‑level, comprehensive list of employers is currently being prepared. With the list in place, all service requests submitted to the ministry or related institutions will be automated under Maldives 2.0.
“If a company is registered, paying taxes and operating properly, we are working to ensure that its service requests are automatically accepted and approved through our system,” Minister Ali Ihusaan said.
The minister said the issue of migrants can be resolved sustainably by incorporating certain legal standards used in other countries. The aim is to reduce the number of foreigners without proper documents, and employers without proper registration, to one percent by November 17 this year, he said.
He added that by the end of the government’s five‑year term, the Maldives will be ranked among the best countries in the world for treating expatriate workers in line with international standards.
