President Muizzu appoints Hassan Rasheed as Minister of Defence and National Service

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Hassan Rasheed as the Minister of Defence and National Service.

The letter of appointment was presented to Hassan Rasheed at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Wednesday evening.

He took his oath of office before Supreme Court Justice Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim and then signed the declaration of oath.

From Th. Vilufushi, Hassan Rasheed has worked in various administrative roles within government, including a term as State Minister at the Housing Ministry when Dr. Mohamed Muizzu oversaw the portfolio. His appointment to the defence portfolio comes after years of working alongside the current President.

He is the older brother of former Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed.
