Massive fire at Feeali harbor as fuel boat blaze spreads to other vessels

A massive fire broke out at the harbor of F. Feeali on Thursday, after a fire on a fuel boat quickly spread to nearby vessels.

The fire on the fuel boat was reported to the authorities at around 09:15 am.

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) states that firefighters from the F. Nilandhoo Fire Station have been deployed to the scene, while police state they are also working with other relevant authorities to contain the fire.

Videos of the incident show the fire has spread to multiple vessels at the harbor.

A police spokesperson said an expatriate sustained burn injuries in the incident, and is being treated at the Feeali Health Center.

Meanwhile, a local told Sun that the fire has now spread to four other boats, as well as the ice plant in the island.
