The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) and Aasandha on Tuesday opened a new joint office in Hithadhoo, Addu City move officials say will make services more accessible to people living in the south.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, NSPA CEO Heena Waleed said the office will begin offering all NSPA and Aasandha services by the end of this year.

Heena said the new office will bring major convenience to Addu residents, noting that even though many services are now digitised, it is important for staff to be physically present in major population centres.

She said no previous administration had taken steps to establish such an office in Addu, and credited President Dr Mohamed Muizzu for instructing the agencies to expand services based on the needs of the people.

“Although this office currently accepts forms and provides information, it will soon become a place where every service offered by NSPA and Aasandha is available. We will reach that target before the end of this year,” Heena said.

Aasandha Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya said the office was opened in a short period of time through dedicated effort to meet an important goal. She thanked the President for ensuring that Aasandha and NSPA services are easily accessible to the people of Addu.
