Family of seven provided shelter for five days after Male’ house fire

A family of seven has been provided temporary shelter after a fire on early Monday damaged their home in Male’ beyond inhabitation.

The fire, which broke out at Ma. Rimlaas, was reported to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)’s Fire and Rescue Service at around 03:06 am.

Firefighters from the Male’ Fire Station were deployed to the scene, and managed to put out the fire at around 04:12 am.

While the fire did not result in any injuries, it caused massive damages, rendering the house inhabitable.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) says it has arranged temporary accommodation and food for the family of seven who were living at Rimlaas.

According to the NDMA, the assistance is being provided for a period of five days.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this point.
