The Elections Commission (EC) on Tuesday opened reregistration for the Local Council Elections and the Women’s Development Committee Elections scheduled to take place in April.
The EC announced that reregistration will be open until 03:00 pm on February 16.
The EC says that voters who wish to cast their ballots at a location other than the one they voted at during the 2024 Parliamentary Elections may apply to reregister to a different location.
According to the EC, people who voted at a resort, industrial island, jail or overseas in the 2024 Parliamentary Elections are currently registered to vote in their permanent address.
They, too, may apply to reregister to a different location.
The EC advised all voters to check their registered voting station, and ensure they file for re-registration before the deadline expires.
Voters may apply for reregistration through the EC’s main portal or the My Portal.
The voting station voters are currently registered to can be checked by sending an SMS to 1414 with keywork ‘VR’ and the national identity card number.
The Local Council Elections is scheduled to take place on April 4, and will see officials elected to 225 council and WDC seats.
