Police: Man stabbed during dispute between brothers in Hiyaa flat

A man was stabbed inside a Hiyaa flat during a fight between two brothers, police said on Sunday.

According to police, a disturbance was reported from an apartment in the eighth tower of the Hulhumale' Hiyaa housing complex. Officers who responded to the report found that a dispute between two brothers had escalated, resulting in one of them being stabbed.

Police said the injured man, a 38‑year‑old Maldivian, sustained a deep cut to his leg and a severed main nerve. He is currently receiving treatment at Hulhumale' Hospital.

Police are investigating the case.

A media officer from Hulhumale' Hospital told Sun that the man is being treated in the hospital’s emergency room. The official said doctors were still assessing his injuries and further details would be shared later.

A witness told Sun that a man with serious injuries was taken to the hospital at around 15:50 hrs on Sunday. Witnesses said he had multiple wounds and appeared to have been stabbed with a knife.
