The Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has issued a notice prohibiting vehicles from parking in the area designated for seaplane passenger buses near Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport.

The restricted zone, located south of the fourth arrival gate of the new international terminal, which opened in July, is now reserved for boarding seaplane passengers and for MACL employee bus operations. According to MACL, seaplane buses will enter via the road in front of Terminal 1 and exit through the road adjacent to the boarding bay.

MACL has warned that stopping or parking in this area may obstruct the movement of seaplane and internal buses, and has urged airport users to follow instructions from estate security personnel to ensure smooth operations.

On July 26, parking was temporarily banned across airport zones for the terminal’s inauguration. However, temporary parking arrangements were only introduced on September 14 in the old lot in front of the terminal, following complaints from airport staff and service users.
