President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that development projects will be implemented across all islands without compromising the interests of the state.

Speaking at the completion ceremony of the Gulhi land reclamation and beach protection project on Wednesday, the President said the government is prioritizing projects that directly respond to public needs.

He noted that the projects completed this year, those already signed, and those included in the upcoming budget reflect the pledges made during his presidential campaign.

“Whether it is the mosque project or other projects, they will be completed,” he said.

President Muizzu emphasized that the government will continue to act in accordance with the people’s wishes, but always within the bounds of law and order.

“What is not in the interest of the people is not in the interest of the government. This is the government of the people,” he said.

He added that development is now underway in every island, and that the benefits will soon be visible.

The Gulhi land reclamation and beach protection project was completed in seven months. Under the project, MTCC dredged 10.15 hectares of land, doubling the island’s land area. The project also included the installation of 940 meters of stone revetment and 362 meters of geobag revetment.

At the same ceremony, the government signed a harbour development agreement with MTCC, with the President stating that the aim is to complete the project as quickly as possible.
