Indian national unaccounted for nine hours after falling off cargo vessel

Search efforts have been launched for an Indian national who went missing after falling overboard from an Indian cargo boat approximately one kilometer north of Vilimale’.

Nine hours have passed since the individual fell overboard.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) reported that they received a report around 11:35pm last night, after an Indian national had gone missing after falling overboard from the Indian-flagged cargo vessel ‘MSV Daulah’, near Vilimale’.

MNDF stated that the Coastguard’s Second Squadron, under the Male’ Area Command, is currently conducting search operations to locate the missing individual. As of 7:22 AM this morning—eight hours after the incident—MNDF confirmed that sea and air search efforts had not yet yielded any results.
