Applications opened for Tax Appeal Tribunal membership for a third time

The President’s Office has opened applications for a vacant membership position in the Tax Appeal Tribunal for the third time.

The Office first opened applications for the post on July 15th, and again on August 4th next. The deadline for applications under the second announcement expired at 12:00pm on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the President’s Office opened applications for the post for a third time. The deadline for applications has been set for 12:00pm on Sunday, September 7th.

Application forms can be collected from the President’s Office between 8:30am and 12:00pm on working days. They are also available for download on the President’s Office.

The vacancy at the Tax Appeal Tribunal arises from the resignation of a member.

All but one member of the Tax Appeal Tribunal was dismissed by the President on August 26th, 2024, upon recommendation by the Parliament following a probe into severe corruption allegations against them.

The four individuals who replaced them are:

  • Abdul Ghanee Mohamed, H. Host Side 
  • Ibrahim Shareef, G. Alisha
  • Hussan Zuhair Mohamed, G. Maavarulu
  • Shifza Abdul Gayyoom, Gasdhoshuge, GA. Nilandhoo

The tenure of a Tax Appeal Tribunal member is five years.
