Dhiraagu has handed over more than MVR 230,000—raised through their ‘Donate on Dhiraagu App’ program—for children’s shelters.
The donations were formally handed over by Dhiraagu’s CEO, Managing Director Ismail Rasheed to Minister of Social and Family Development Dr. Aishath Shiham on Monday.
The total donations raised, MVR 230,380, include Dhiraagu’s committed contribution of MVR 150,000, along with generous donations made by the public via DhiraaguApp during Ramadan.
Donate on Dhiraagu App” was a special donation feature introduced during Ramadan as part of a one-month campaign to support children under state care. Through this initiative, customers were able to conveniently donate to Fiyavathi, Amaan Veshi and Amaan Hiyaa: state care homes for children, with Fiyavathi serving the Greater Malé Region, while Amaan Veshi and Amaan Hiyaa provide care for children across the Maldives.
Dhiraagu states the funds raised will be used to support key programmes identified by the Ministry of Social and Family Development to improve the well-being and development of children under state care.
The telecom operator affirmed its commitment to creating meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of children across the Maldives, with inclusion as a core pillar of the company’s CSR program. In this regard, Dhiraagu has continuously supported state care facilities over the years, including its nationwide support with high-speed broadband internet to all Amaan Veshi and Amaan Hiyaa facilities across the country, enabling better access to digital literacy and education for children under state care.
