Bank of Maldives (BML) opened self-service banking ATMs across seven islands in M. Atoll this week, expanding ATM services to all residential islands of the atoll.

The new ATMs were established as part of ‘Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM’ initiative launched in 2024, aimed at expanding ATM services to all residential islands of the Maldives by the end of this year.

It comes a week after the BML expanded ATM services to all residential islands of N. Atoll by opening new ATMs in seven islands.

BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef noted the crucial role of ATMs in bringing customers into the formal banking system, and expressed pride in expanding the bank’s services to all communities in M. Atoll.

Shareef added that as the BML expands its physical network, the bank also remains committed to enhancing its digital banking services.

“The bank will continue to innovate, to cater the growing needs of its customers, leveraging partnerships with global card networks and payment solution providers to deliver seamless and secure banking experiences,” he said.

According to Shareef, the BML has recorded more than one million transactions and deposits of over MVR 1.45 billion across the bank’s ATMs outside the greater Male’ area this year.

He described this as “a clear reflection of strong customer engagement and the importance of enhancing our banking footprint.”

The expansion of ATM services in M. Atoll reinforces the bank’s position as the Maldives' leading financial institution, with an extensive network comprising 39 branches across all 20 atolls, 121 self-service banking centers, 179 ATMs, comprehensive agent banking services, and advanced digital banking solutions.

The bank continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting communities nationwide through innovative banking solutions and expanded service accessibility.
