Police recruit still in critical condition after health deterioration during training

Maldives Police Service states the police recruit, who was brought to Male’ after their health deteriorated while undergoing training in Dh. Vaani, remains in critical condition.

In a message to the media on Sunday, Police said the 34-year-old recruit had not responded to the wake-up call around 4:21hrs at the Police Training Sector in Dh. Vaanee.

The recruit was transferred to the medical room for emergency medical assistance around 4:27hrs, and was taken to Dhaalu Atoll Hospital around 4:48hrs following instructions from the doctor.

The recruit was airlifted and transported to Male' City around 13:22hrs on Sunday afternoon. The recruit is being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).  

Back then, the Police confirmed the recruit's condition was critical and is being treated on ventilator. However, the Police did not disclose why the recruit’s health deteriorated or whether they suffered from any health condition.

Police, on Wednesday, reasserted that the recruit remains on serious condition.

Sun has been unsuccessful in its efforts to obtain a comment from IGMH regarding the case.
