95 cases of violence against children reported in October

Gender Ministry announced on Thursday that the authority received and attended to 95 cases of violence against children in October, including 30 cases of sexual abuse of children. 

Gender Ministry released its case statistics for October on Thursday morning. 

It shows the authority received and attended to 222 cases in October. 

95 of the cases involved violence against children, the majority of them involving sexual violence. 

While 30 of the cases of violence against children involved sexual abuse of children, 20 cases involved negligence, 16 involved witnessing domestic violence, 12 cases involved physical abuse, 10 cases involved emotional abuse, five cases involved bullying and harassment, and two cases involved exploitation. 

Gender Ministry also attended to 45 cases of gender-based violence or domestic violence in October. 

13 of the cases involved physical violence, 10 involved emotional or verbal abuse, four involved intimidation, four involved controlling behavior, four involved neglect, three involved sexual violence, two involved rapes, two involved withholding or damage to property, two involved sexual harassment, and one involved economic and financial abuse. 

Gender Ministry attended to 24 cases involving family issues. 

12 cases involved custody or access issues, and 12 cases involved parenting issues. 

Meanwhile, 15 cases were reported to the Gender Ministry in October involving care and support of the elderly and persons with disabilities. 

It included 13 cases involving care and support for persons with disabilities, and two cases involving care and support for the elderly. 

Gender Ministry attended to seven cases involving self-harm or suicidal behavior in October. 

It included four cases involving suicidal behavior, one case involving suicidal thoughts, and two cases involving self-harming.
